In addition to patrol, the sheriff's office also has a criminal investigations division (CID) that investigates crimes that occur in the county. CID is responsible for investigating all major crimes, including but not limited to homicides, sexual assaults, burglaries, and thefts. CID also assists other agencies with their investigations when needed. In addition, CID is responsible for the collection and preservation of evidence, as well as the processing of crime scenes. CID works closely with other law enforcement agencies, including the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and the District Attorney's Drug and Violent Crime Task Force.
