Meet Your Sheriff

Sheriff Rick Lang
Sheriff Lang was elected in the primary election on the 18th of June 2024, leaving him to run unopposed in the general election. However, former Sheriff Wayne McKinney was ready to retire, and appointed his Undersheriff to take over, which at the time was Rick. He was sworn in on the 1st day of July 2024 by Judge G. Brent Russell in the Stephens County District courtroom in front of his family, friends, and co-workers. He was sworn in again formally on January 2, 2025 to start his first official term as Sheriff.
Sheriff Lang brings with him 35 years of experience in law enforcement, starting his career at the Marlow Police Department. He went on to work for the Duncan Police Department and retired as a Lieutinant. Upon retiring, he immediately joined the District Attorney's Drug and Violent Crime Task Force for several years, before being asked to join the sheriff's office as Undersheriff.
